1. What is an adult day center? It's a place with a home-like atmosphere where adults spend the day in a group setting, partake in activities, and receive such services as meals, snacks, health monitoring, and personal cares.
2. What are the costs? The Connections adult day center can be far less expensive than nursing home placement or assisted living facilities. Daily fees are based on a full day with lunch and two snacks. Other services are available as needed. A sliding fee scale is available for those who qualify. For specific fees based on your loved one's needs or to schedule a tour, please call 608-245-3075 or contact us.
3. What are some typical day center activities? There are a wide variety of activities, and we publish them in a monthly calendar for participants and their families/caretakers. There are groups for art, music, devotions, baking & cooking, current events, sports, exercise, trivia, and other forms of entertainment.
4. Do you ever go out into the community?
Yes. We have three annual outings and many different monthly outing opportunities for our program participants.
5. What kinds of staff are there at the day centers?
Certified nursing assistants handle the medical aspects of day center programs. Therapeutic recreation specialists create, implement, and evaluate daily activities. Both are helped by day center assistants. Also, human service specialists help new participants get started in our program and facilitate "plan of care" meetings for them. In addition to the day center staff, many volunteers provide entertainment and socialization for our participants.
