For Providers: Changes to Procurement Process of Disposable Medical Supplies

Care Wisconsin is excited to announce the launch of the Care Wisconsin DMS Centralized Group which will help facilitate procurement of Disposable Medical Supplies (DMS) for Care Wisconsin Family Care and Partnership Members. The updated DMS Guidelines document will be stored in the Provider’s Resource Library.

As of February 18, 2019 Care Wisconsin Care Wisconsin’s DMS Centralized Group will be available to facilitate:
• New DMS Orders
• Changes to existing DMS Orders
• Issues related to DMS Orders and Procurement.

New DMS Orders

  • New DMS need is identified by Residential Provider/Member/Prescribing Authority
    • Contact Care Wisconsin DMS Centralized Group
      • Care Wisconsin DMS Centralized Group will coordinate with with the Member’s Care Team and prescribing authority to access member need, obtain written order, and have order sent to an in-network DMS vendor.
      • Disposable Medical Supplies will be shipped to member directly from DMS vendor
  • Member has already obtained a Written Order/RX for DMS from a prescribing authority
    • Send a copy of the order to Care Wisconsin DMS Centralized Group or give it to the Member’s Care Team directly
      • DMS Centralized Group will coordinate with the Member’s Care Team and work with Prescribing Authority to ensure the written order contains all necessary information and have order sent to an in-network DMS vendor.
      • DMS items will be shipped to member directly from DMS vendor

Changes to Existing DMS Orders

  • Need for a change to existing DMS order is identified by Residential Provider/Member/Prescribing Authority
    • Contact Care Wisconsin DMS Centralized Group
      • Care Wisconsin DMS Centralized Group will coordinate with with the Member’s Care Team and prescribing authority to access member need, obtain new written order, and have changes to order sent to an in-network DMS vendor.
      • DMS items will be shipped to member directly from DMS vendor
  • Member has already obtained a Written Order/RX for change to current DMS order from a prescribing authority
    • Send a copy of the new order to Care Wisconsin DMS Centralized Group or give it to the Member’s Care Team directly
      • DMS Centralized Group will coordinate with the Member’s Care Team and work with Prescribing Authority to ensure the written order contains all necessary information and have order sent to an in-network DMS vendor.
      • DMS items will be shipped to member directly from DMS vendor.
